The Rev. A. Douglas (Doug) Simmons is a native of Oklahoma and after living, working, and serving in a number of states settled in the Marianna area with his wife, Chris, in 2006.  Together they have been working as commercial truck drivers since 2005.  Fr. Doug was raised and educated as a Southern Baptist, receiving a BA in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University and the Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  In addition, he was a Ph.D. candidate in the College of Education of Kansas State University, with studies in the field of Adult Education.  He served as a pastor and church planter in several states, and for a number of years worked in the field of telecommunications, including a period of time owning and operating his own telephone business selling, renting and servicing business phone systems.  After almost a decade of involvement in parishes of The Episcopal Church, he was ordained as a priest in the Evangelical Episcopal Communion in 2019.  He currently serves as the chaplain for the Marianna Moose Lodge #1026 and with Chris is an active supporter of the lodge.
