Holy Trinity Community of Faith is an independent ministry affiliated with the Evangelical Episcopal Communion, a global ministry, which along with many others today, seeks to bring together the three traditional streams of Christian worship: the Sacramental, the Evangelical, and the Charismatic.
While each of those styles tends to have elements of the others within them, they have definite characteristics associated with them. The Sacramental worship style emphasizes the liturgical or formal structure of worship, associating dignity and beauty with the glory of God. The Evangelical style of worship is primarily focused on proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and the redemption and salvation from sin which He offers through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection, commonly accompanied by a call for a specific response of repentance and turning to Christ. The Charismatic worship emphasizes the on-going presence and work of the Holy Spirit in the life and activities of the believer, and is often characterized by enthusiastic expressions of praise and celebration.
We believe that the elements which characterize each of the “Three Streams” are all important and valuable parts of Christian worship. The “Convergence Movement” seeks to recognize all three styles and unite them in our worship and community life. Some of our communities may lean more towards the Sacramental/Liturgical style while others tend more to follow Charismatic/Pentecostal patterns of worship, but our common commitment to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings us together in one community of faith.
We are committed to the authority of Scripture, properly interpreted and understood. Our beliefs are those of the traditional orthodox Christian faith as found in the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. While we may look to other sources to explain and amplify the meaning of the Bible and those creeds, they remain the foundation upon which we stand and build our community.
Everyone is welcome whenever we gather for worship. Of course, we would also welcome you into formal membership if you so desire, though there is certainly no requirement or obligation for you to take that step. Baptized believers from any tradition may be confirmed and received into membership based on their affirmation of the core beliefs of the Church. New believers may be baptized and confirmed as members of the community based on their profession of faith in Christ and desire to take the Baptismal Vows.
If you would like to know more, please ask one of the ministers or leaders. We would be happy to explain or answer any questions you might have.
